Client Companies & Portal Accounts
Create client companies, manage lifecycle and responsible employees, issue portal access, and enter workspaces.
What this menu does
Maintain the firm's client portfolio and the controlled boundary between firm staff work and client-facing access.

When to use it
- Create or edit a client company.
- Activate, suspend, or terminate service with a reason.
- Assign responsible employees.
- Create or reset the client portal account.
- Open the client workspace.
Before you begin
- Sign in to the Tax Firm portal.
- The account must be allowed to view this menu.

Supported operations
Create or edit a client company
- 1
Select Create client company, or Edit on an existing row/detail.

Enter the client name, registered address, and supported base information.
- 3
Save and verify the client row.
- 4
Open Details for owners, portal account, lifecycle history, and workspace access.
The client record is created or updated within the current tax firm.
Change client lifecycle status
- 1
Choose the available status action for the client.
- 2
Read the impact of the target state.
- 3
Enter the required status-change reason and confirm.
- 4
Verify the new status before opening the workspace or client portal.
Lifecycle status changes and the reason is written to audit history.
Assign responsible employees
- 1
Open the client detail and select Assign client owners.
- 2
Review available employees and current owners.
- 3
Select the responsible employees and save.
- 4
Confirm the owner list and affected employee client access.
The saved owners can access the client according to their role and other permissions.
Create or reset the client portal account
- 1
Open the client detail and locate Portal account.
- 2
Create the first account with a valid email, or choose Reset portal password for the existing account.
- 3
Enter the required reason when resetting.
- 4
Copy the one-time temporary password and record secure delivery before closing the result.
The client can sign in through the Client Portal subject to lifecycle and account status.
Open the client workspace
- 1
Confirm the client is active or otherwise allowed for workspace viewing.

Select Open workspace from the list or detail.
- 3
Verify the company name and lifecycle badge in the workspace header.
- 4
Use Exit client workspace before choosing another company.
The firm's menu is replaced by a client-scoped workspace menu.
Business rules and fields
- Draft and terminated clients cannot enter the workspace.
- Suspended clients may allow staff context viewing but restrict edits; client portal access is blocked.
- Client owner assignment controls normal employee visibility.
- Temporary passwords must be delivered securely and are not retrievable later.

What happens next
- The firm has a traceable client lifecycle, responsible staff scope, and client-facing access record.
Common problems
The menu, client, or action is missing.
The employee role, client assignment, or current record status does not allow it.
Ask a firm administrator to verify the employee role and client assignment, then reopen the page.
A save or load action fails.
The session may have expired, validation may have failed, or the service is temporarily unavailable.
Refresh once, correct any field-level message, and retry. Keep the request identifier if the page provides one.
