Accounting
Maintain the firm standard chart
Maintain one shared account hierarchy for every client workspace in the tax firm.
When to use it
- Review the eight-purpose system readiness summary
- Find and inspect an account branch
- Add a root or child account
- Edit allowed fields
- Deactivate or restore an account for future selection
Before you begin
- Sign in to the tax-firm portal
- Have firm.settings.read to view; firm.settings.manage is additionally required for changes
How to use it
- 01
Open the standard chart
In the tax-firm portal, open Settings, then Standard Chart of Accounts.
- 02
Review readiness
Check System readiness and review every internal purpose marked Missing, Duplicate, or Unavailable. System purpose is read-only on this page. For any exception, ask an authorized administrator or support team to resolve it through the approved master-data process; do not assign the purpose yourself.
- 03
Find the account branch
Search by code or name, filter by status or class, and expand the relevant branch. Filtered results keep matching ancestors visible.
- 04
Add a root account
Select Add root account and choose the account class. Review the pre-filled suggested four-digit code and edit it if necessary, then enter the name and normal balance.
- 05
Add a child account
Use Add child on the intended parent. Parent and class are read-only; review the pre-filled editable suggested child code and adjust it if necessary, then enter the name and normal balance.
- 06
Edit allowed fields
Edit the code, name, or normal balance as needed. A changed code must remain in the same account class.
- 07
Control future availability
Deactivate with confirmation or restore directly. Deactivating a parent makes its descendants unavailable for new selection.

What happens next
All client workspaces in the firm use the same eligible accounts in supported invoice, voucher, ledger, tax, and fixed-asset workflows.
Good to know
- A selectable account is an active, postable leaf whose ancestors are all active.
- Adding a child can make its parent unavailable for new selection; saved voucher and ledger labels do not change.
- The page uses deactivation and restoration rather than permanent deletion.
